Early October Prime Day Deal: Fire HD 10 Tablet Dips to Lowest Price of 2026
Prime Day DealAmazon’s big sale has already yielded the best deal of the year for this powerful tablet: It’s over 50% off.
Amazon Prime Big Deal Days officially start on Tuesday, October 6, but apparently the company forgot how calendars work: Lots of products are already on sale, including at least one that you absolutely should not miss.
It’s the Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet, currently just $72.99 for Amazon Prime subscribers. (Don’t have a subscription? Not a problem: Sign up here for a free 30-day trial.) That’s 53% off the regular price and within a few dollars of the lowest price in this tablet’s history.
What you should know about the Fire HD 10
This is Amazon’s largest tablet, a 10.1-inch model that’s suitable for anything and everything: Games, movies, e-books, e-mail, Web browsing, Zoom calls, and so on.

A few noteworthy specs:
- 1080p screen (1,920 x 1,200 resolution)
- 4GB of RAM
- 32GB of storage (expandable!)
- 5-megapixel front and rear cameras
- Optional pressure-sensitive stylus
If you’ve never owned a Fire HD tablet before, here’s one key thing to know: Although it runs a variant of the Android operating system, it relies on Amazon’s Appstore, not the Google Play Store. While the former has nearly all the same apps, there are a few missing — most notably Google apps like Chrome, Gmail, and Google Drive, plus a few business tools like Slack.
There are workarounds, but it’s just something to be aware of if you specifically need those apps. Also, Amazon may be ditching its proprietary operating system later this year, meaning the tablet might get updated with a more standard Android OS.
Even if it doesn’t, its limitations are very few. This is an extremely capable device, one that’s especially good for entertainment.

Which is better: The Fire HD 10 or an Apple iPad
Not gonna lie: The base-model Apple iPad A16 is a better tablet in a few key areas, including screen resolution, camera quality, build quality, app compatibility, and user interface.
It also starts at $449. Yes, that nets you four times as much storage (128GB), but you can bring the Fire HD 10 up to that level (higher, actually) with an inexpensive microSD card. This is a good time to note that iPads aren’t expandable.
You could literally buy six Fire HD 10s for less than the price of one iPad. (During this sale, anyway.)
Just remember that you need an Amazon Prime membership to get the deal. Sign up for a free 30-day trial if you don’t already have one.
BONUS DEAL: Speaking of entertainment, looking to upgrade your TV? A new streaming stick can breathe new life into an older screen. Right now, Amazon’s Fire TV Stick Select is on sale for $17.99, tying its lowest price. (It’s normally $50.) And this thing isn’t just for streaming; find out how it can turn your TV into a full-blown game console.
